GrowUp Urban Farms co-founders Kate Hofman and Tom Webster will be attending the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin from the 15th to 19th of October. One Young World is a UK-based not-for-profit that gathers together the brightest young people from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change. At the Summit, delegates debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.
At past Summits delegates were joined by a line-up of Counsellors that included Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldof, Kofi Annan, Sir Richard Branson, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Jamie Oliver, Jack Dorsey and Arianna Huffington. After each Summit, the delegates, who are then known as One Young World Ambassadors, work on their own initiatives or lend the power of the One Young World network to those initiatives already in existence.
Kate is attending as a returning ambassador, and Tom as a delegate to the Summit this year – they will be representing GrowUp Urban Farms at the conference of more than 1200 delegates from 190 countries. Sponsored by Barclays Bank Plc Ltd and Climate-KIC respectively, Tom and Kate will be attending the summit where they’ll have the chance to debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for pressing global issues. One Young World Summits are ground-breaking events that offer decision-makers a powerful insight into where the world might be headed. Topics include education, human rights, sustainable business, the circular economy, leadership & governance and youth unemployment.
The GrowUp Team wishes them all the best for a fruitful and enriching experience. You can follow Kate and Tom at One Young World through our Twitter feed @GrowUpBox and find out more about the summit at www.oneyoungworld.com, and on Twitter through the event hashtag #OYW.
