Unit 84

Unit 84 is the UK’s first aquaponic, vertical urban farm.

Based inside an industrial warehouse in Beckton, the farm will combine two well-established farming practices – aquaculture (farming fish) and hydroponics (growing plants in a nutrient solution without soil) in a recirculating system. Our 6,000 square feet of growing space will produce more than 20,000 kg of sustainable salads and herbs (enough for 200,000 salad bags) and 4,000 kg of fish each year.

The farm will also include a visitor centreDSC_0124_Credit _Mandy Zammit allowing people to understand more about sustainable food production in cities, and means that our business can increase its social and environmental impact in the local community and engage more people in learning about urban farming.

Over the next couple of months we will be sharing our journey with you as the building goes ahead, documenting our progress, our partnerships and our produce. Click here to view our gallery!

Keep up to date on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages and blog to see how the farm develops.

Unit 84 is a working farm and is not open to the public. Please check back soon for information on public open days.
