Hello friendly farming fans and welcome to the first post on our new blog.
We want to use this as a way of letting you know what we’re up to – it’s a busy world out there and in between feeding the fish and cycling around making salad deliveries we’re learning lots about starting our own business and growing up.
This is Kate blogging for you today – you can find out a bit more about me here and I promise it won’t only be me writing on this blog – the idea is for a mix of people to get involved and keep it interesting. I’m the CEO and co-founder of GrowUp – the way we work is that I run the business and Tom runs the farms – that way we make the most of our skills and experiences (and also hopefully know who is meant to be making what decision). Of course, since we’re a start-up, my responsibilities as CEO also include making tea, buying replacement printer cartridges and manually clearing fish poo out of pipes. I’m sure Ginni Rometty’s diary looks something similar.
We’ll be writing lots about urban farming and aquaponics on this blog, and also about our experiences setting up a business with social and environmental aims in London. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think.
Peace, love and fish,
